Installation Instructions: - RTS-1020 and RTS-10203 Wholehouse Filtration Systems

Please read instructions carefully before commencing work

WARNING:
  • Do NOT remove the protection cover/wrapping on the IZC-20 Ionizer until you are ready to assemble it to the plumbing.
  • Do NOT allow any metal object, dust, dirt etc. to approach the open ends of the Ionizer as this could cause damage and void the 20 year Warranty.
  • Use ONLY Teflon sealing tape on the black plastic housing threads. Do NOT use any liquid sealing compound.

The unit MUST be installed so that the water supply runs first to the Sediment Filter Housing (LH side as supplied) and then through the KDF/Carbon filter and then lastly through the IZC-20 ionizer.
  1. If there is any possibility the water pressure may exceed 80 psi at any time, a pressure reducing valve must be fitted on the Inlet side of the KiwiPure system. Failure to do so may void the warranty.
  2. Determine which way the Flow of water is going ie. Left to Right (as supplied) and note the direction indicators on the top of the housings. For RTS-1020 only:- If necessary remove the 8 hex-head screws and rotate the bracket 180 degrees.
  3. Before mounting the System on the wall, fit the IZC-20 Ionizer, to the outlet (House) side and the Stainless Elbow Pipe to the Inlet (Supply) side of the housings with Teflon tape to ensure a good seal while being positioned to suit the existing pipe-work. Do NOT use liquid sealing agents on the Plastic Housing threads.
  4. Fit a ¾” Ball Valves (not supplied) on each side of the assembly and then mount the assembled system onto the wall. For RTS-1020 Only:- If a galvanized cover is included then place the two washers (25mm x 8mm x 2mm) supplied with the cover between the wall and the mounting bracket to allow space for the cover to slide in behind the stainless steel bracket.
  5. Connect the system up to the existing main supply pipes. NB. If water pressure may exceed 80 psi, fit a reducing valve on the inlet side.

FILTER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

When installing filters, take note of the direction of Flow. Before removing the filter casings, close both Valves and then depress the red buttons to release any pressure in the housings. Remove the casings carefully using the large spanner provided and retain the rubber ‘O’ Ring. The 25/1 sediment filter must go on the inlet side. Ensure the nylon centering ring is fitted inside the sediment filter casing (blue) and positioned approximately 25mm below the lip. Then the KDF/Carbon Filter is fitted on the outlet side. Make sure the casings are seated correctly and the ‘O’ ring and sealing surfaces are completely clean and free of any dirt or grit. NB. The sediment filter will be compressed as you screw the casing on. It make take a few firm turns before the casing contacts the ‘O’ ring. Do not over-tighten the Casing, but just enough to achieve a water tight seal.

PROCEDURE FOR COMMISIONING AFTER INSTALLATION OR MAINTENANCE

  1. Open the Inlet valve slowly and check for leaks. Gently depress the Red button (relief valve) on the top of the Inlet side housing and wait until water flows freely from the valve and all the air is out of the system. Repeat this for the Red button on the Outlet side. Check again for leaks.
  2. Open the nearest house tap to the system and then slowly open the Outlet valve. Check the house Tap and allow at least 10 litres (large bucket) of water to run freely so as to ensure any free carbon particles are discarded to waste. Close the house tap and re-check the system for leaks.
  3. If applicable fit the optional System Cover over the top of the bracket and fasten with two screws through the flanges that are against the rear wall.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY OF OPTIONAL COVER  FOR RTS-1020 SYSTEM

NB. A drawing is available on request to assist in the local manufacture of the cover.
  1. The Cover comes as three separate components, main body, LH and RH side panels, that are assembled together using the self tapping screws supplied.
  2. The Cover can be assembled several different ways to best accommodate to the site requirements. For example the LH & RH covers can be reversed and permanently mounted to the wall so that the top cover is slid down onto them and attached with screws on each side.
  3. The side panels are normally assembled with the flanges at the back and to the outside to make mounting easier, but can be fitted the other way if you wish to allow for the cover to be removed separately. This will be the case where one or both pipes are taken through the side.
  4. The two washers (25mm x 8mm x 2mm) supplied with the cover need to be placed between the mounting bracket of the KiwiPure System and the wall on which it is mounted.
  5. The cover rear edge is then lowered over the back of the KiwiPure mounting bracket and at least two screws put in the flange at the back of each side panel to retain the cover.
