How much should I pay for installation?
It varies because properties are always set up differently. Most customers would pay a plumber for between 1-3 hours of work plus materials such as pipe and fixings. The cost is usually between $250-450 depending on what is required. To give you an example of a simple job, a customer with a villa (100+ years old) with good access underneath the house took 1.5 hours and 2 metres of new pipe. New houses should be around $150 - 200 as it's simpler to install during the build.
What is the warranty?
Our Whole-house RTS-1020 System comes with a 10-year warranty that covers the Filter Housings against manufacturers defects or failure. The Ionizer is maintenance free and has a Five Year warranty (Conditions apply) Filter cartridges are consumable and thus covered against manufacturers defects only. We believe our products represent the best value in a comprehensive approach to total home water treatment. If our customers are unhappy with the results we will take the system back and credit the cost of the item less any freight or labour costs.
What are the running costs of the residential system?
Genuine Kiwipure filters are long life and NSF-42 certified. In an average size urban family home the 1 micron Sediment filter ($55.00) should last one year, while the GAC/KDF Media filter ($116.00) can last up to two years. A drop in water pressure can indicate the Sediment filter needs replacing. The smell of chlorine and/or a change in taste indicates the Media filter has expired. The virtual Ionizer does not require maintenance.
What are the benefits of having a KiwiPure system compared to other products?
The Kiwipure system utilises a unique design 'water softener' (Virtual Ionizer) that is chemical and electricity free along with GAC/KDF media and 1 micron Sediment filtration. This overall configuration has been shown to significantly reduce eczema, dermatitis and other skin conditions as well as softening the water which greatly enhances cleaning and reduces lime and silica scale build-up on bathroom ware and appliances. This all at 50% or less of the price of similar systems.
How does the system work?
The system employs well known methods for removing toxins, sediment and heavy metals via a system of filters that are very efficient and economic. It simply takes out the 'junk' that you don't need and certainly don't want in your water! Added to this basic function is our unique (NZ Designed) Virtual Ionizer. This employs powerful neodymium (rare earth) magnets and a principle proven in Shinshu University, Japan October 2005, to alter the physical properties of hard water compounds like lime and silica. Our Virtual Ionizer design is, we believe, a world first and has been shown to remove existing scale in pipes, preventing further build-up, while softening water to save on soaps and cleaning. It does not require electricity or chemicals such as salt or aluminium based resin.
Will the system prevent skin diseases like dermatitis and eczema?
We have many testimonials to the effectiveness of the KiwiPure system in greatly reducing irritable skin conditions caused by eczema, dermatitis and allergies. Reducing the risk of cancer has yet to be proven, but because of the excellent results we have seen with eczema and dermatitis we believe the risk of melanoma due to skin cell damage will be reduced. To date we've only had very positive results with skin diseases and no neutral or negative results from any one of our many happy customers.
Does it remove all the chlorine and heavy metals?
Almost, the GAC/KDF filter unit will remove up to 99% of the Chlorine, THM's and other nasty by-products of chlorine sterilization. It also removes many heavy metals and compounds eg. silver, aluminium, cadmium, copper, iron, nickel, zinc, lead, chromium, barium, radon and selenium. Another important aspect of KDF is it increases the lifespan of the Carbon Media, giving you up to four times the life for 20% extra cost.
Does it remove fluoride?
Fluoride is very difficult to remove despite some companies claiming to remove > 50% with a standard carbon filter at normal flow rates. This is not possible and we do not claim to remove fluoride as the amount removed is insignificant. NB. Using hazardous substances to remove fluoride (like aluminium and bone-char carbon) is arguably a greater risk than the fluoride itself.
